Work has been completed to update the 1978 'Key to the fishes of Northern Europe' by Alwyne Wheeler. This seminal field key for fish biologists has been updated by Peter Maitland (Fish Conservation Centre, Scotland) and Douglas Herdson (Marine Fish Information Services, Devon) and has been edited by Steve Coates (Environment Agency). Illustrations are by Marc Dando (http://www.wildlifeillustrator.com/) and distribution maps by Adam Waugh (Environment Agency).
